To travel with fast train in Spain

In Spain, there are several train companies that offer high-speed trains, each with their own services and specialties.
Here is an overview of the main high-speed train operators:

​Renfe (Red Nacional de los Ferrocarriles Españoles):
 Renfe is Spain's national railway company and the main operator of high-speed train services in the country.
AVE (Alta Velocidad Española): AVE is the most famous high-speed train system that offers high-speed travel between major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Seville, Valencia, and Málaga. The AVE trains are known for their high speed, comfort and punctuality.
ALVIA: These trains can run on both high-speed and conventional tracks and therefore offer greater flexibility in route options. They connect cities that are not directly connected via the AVE network.
Avant: Regional high-speed trains operating on shorter distances within the high-speed network, often between nearby cities or regions.

​Ouigo: This is a subsidiary of French SNCF that offers low-cost high-speed trains in Spain. Ouigo began operations in Spain in 2021, offering services between cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, ​​with plans to expand to other destinations. Ouigo is known for its competitive prices and simplicity.

​Iryo: A new player in the Spanish high-speed train market, which is a collaboration between the Italian railway company Trenitalia and the Spanish Air Nostrum. Iryo offers premium services and focuses on high quality and comfort. They plan to operate on several of the busiest high-speed routes.

The specialties of the high-speed train companies:

Renfe AVE:
Specialty: High speed, convenience and frequent departures.
Destination network: Major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Seville, Valencia, Málaga.

Renfe ALVIA:
Specialty: Flexibility to run on both high-speed and conventional tracks.
Destination network: Cities and regions not covered by AVE.
Renfe Avant:
Specialty: Regional high-speed services.
Destination network: Shorter distances between nearby cities and regions.

Ouigo España:
Specialty: Low-cost high-speed trains with a focus on affordability.
Destination network: Started with Madrid-Barcelona and expanding to other routes.

Iryo:
Specialty: Premium services with a focus on comfort and quality.
Destination network: Plans to cover several of the busiest high-speed routes in Spain.
Together, these companies offer an extensive and diversified range of high-speed train travel in Spain, making it easy and convenient to travel between the country's major cities and regions.

   During the month of May 2024, I tried all 3 high-speed train companies and here is my personal ranking

1 Ouigo España Good standard, clean and good service.
2 Iryo Good standard, clean and good service.
3 Renfe AVE Decent starnard, clean and normal service

To think of
Ouigo España has no ticket offices but can only be purchased from travel agencies and online.
All high-speed trains have a security check, so you should be out in good time, especially on weekends and high seasons
