History.
Bulgaria, officially Republic of Bulgaria, Bulgarian Republika Bŭlgariya, country occupying the eastern portion of the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe. Founded in the 7th century, Bulgaria is one of the oldest states on the European continent. It is intersected by historically important routes from northern and Eastern Europe to the Mediterranean basin and from western and Central Europe to the Middle East. Before the creation of the Bulgarian state, the empires of ancient Rome, Greece, and Byzantium were strong presences, and people and goods travelled the land with frequency. There are many historical sites where you still can see trace of earlier civilization. |
Nature.
The natural landscape of Bulgaria is diverse, consisting of lowlands, plains, foothills and plateaus, river valleys, basins, and mountains of varying elevations. About 70% of the country's territory is hilly land and 30% is mountainous. Nature in Bulgaria provides an incredible experience. It's not just beaches, as most tourists think. Bulgarian food often incorporates salads as appetizers and is also noted for the prominence of dairy products, wines and other alcoholic drinks such as rakia. The cuisine also features a variety of soups, such as the cold soup tarator, and pastries, such as the filo dough-based banitsa, pita, and the various types of burek |

Folklore music and dance.
Colourful costumes, captivating music, horo chain dances and melodic songs evoking a volcano of emotions… The Bulgarian warm-blooded chain dances, most often performed in uneven rhythms, are an integral part of Bulgaria’s business card abroad. The performances of the Bulgarian folklore ensembles literally blow off every audience and often take first prizes at international folklore festivals. The Bulgarian folk dance is an incredibly beautiful and original art. Each Bulgarian region has its own horo chain dances and choreography. That is why Bulgaria is divided into several ethnographic regions and each one is distinguished by its folk costumes, traditions and spectacular dances, not to mention the fact that one and the same horo chain dance is performed differently in two neighbouring villages. In the summer, there are a lot of folklore festivals around in Bulgaria. Ask us for information. You don't want to miss it. |

The oldest treasure of worked gold in the world, dating back to the 5th millennium BC, comes from the site of the Varna Necropolis.
